Morelia was named Valladolid when it was colonized by the Spaniards, is a Mexican city that changed its name to the current in the early nineteenth century. This change was in honor of one of the greatest heroes in the history of Mexico, the independence leader José María Morelos y Pavón "The Servant of the Nation," which ended its being shot due to a treason. It is the state capital of Michoacan and is located in the center of the country. The historic center is a monumental Baroque valuable in the world cultural heritage by UNESCO. The most spectacular is the cathedral, of which two towers of more than 70 meters that make them the highest in the Americas. The city also may be familiar in Spain because it is one of the cities where they were hosted children from war, the younguest in the civil war were sent to other countries (mainly Mexico and the Soviet Union) by the Republican activism their parents, they considered this a way to protect the attacks from Franco.
